USPS

It’s a shame to hear the USPS continues to struggle. I had a brief moment of selfish panic, thinking I will be very disappointed if I cannot send letters & cards. I have drawers filled with cards that I use regularly.

The recipients of my cards aren’t restricted to only people I know well…or even know at all. I’ve sent Thank you’s to an employee at a grocery, an artist whose picture I picked up at a garage sale, people I’ve met once and they made me smile, etc.

The other day I waited in line at the post office because I needed stamps. I asked the postal woman to give me something colorful; she pulled out some green stamps with artsy hearts & flowers on a vine. I purchased them, went to the car & applied the stamp to my envelope. The stamp looked perfect on the envelope, so good in fact, that I went back into the post office, waited in line again to show/tell the postal woman Thank you & show her how good the stamps looked. Ummm, I don’t think she really cared how good the stamps looked but nonetheless, I made her smile. I’d like to think that my sweet thoughts packaged in color filled envelopes stand out amongst the white envelopes & junk mail. Hopefully they leave some lingering sweetness & smiles to strangers faces long before the card reaches its intended recipient. Another plus, they look great in mailboxes :)
